PLACES TO RIDE - IDAHO |
|
This page was developed to to
inform you of different places to ride. We've been riding quads since the early
90's, so our focus is
on those riding areas that allow quads. We included as much info as possible for
dirt bikes, but you may want to contact the various facilities for the
latest track info. We've tried to give as much info as we could for
each place that we've been to and we hope you'll find it beneficial when inquiring
about a place to visit. If you're thinking of visiting one of these place and have some questions like travel
time, places to stay and eat etc, send us an
email and we'll try our best to help you
out. Also, if you know of a great place to ride
quads, send us an
email
with the location, nearest larger city, type of riding, and a website or
contact information for the location and we'll gladly add it to our site. So load up the toys
and have fun!
Scroll down to check out
various riding areas. Feel free to come over and say "HI" if you should see us at your track or in the dunes. Stay young, have fun, play!

This place is amazing! There is a lot of riding available and several huge hills that will challenge any machine you bring. Thunder Mountain is on the East Side of the 35 mile long recreation area, near Egin lake. From the South side of Thunder Mountain, we had no problems with our stock (at the time) 400EX’s. The North side was another story… The paddles did their job, but we didn’t have enough power to climb the steep dune. The owners of Sand Hills Resort told us that the bigger dunes are 600-1000 feet in vertical climb. The distance wasn’t the problem, the challenge was how steep these things are! We also gave Choke Cherry hill a few good attempts, but we found ourselves laughing at one another since we couldn’t even make it half way up. And then there’s Devils Dune, after attempting the first 2 steep dunes we didn’t think it could get much worse… but they did. We couldn’t get up Devils Dune from the North side either but the South side was no problem. The view from the top was spectacular. For all of you hill shooters at Glamis, you've got to check this place out... it's humbling. There’s camping available on the East end of the Dunes at Sand Hills Resort. There’s grass, restrooms, and showers too. Directions: Here are the directions we had for finding the dunes. They’re not the best, but we found them on our first try… so good luck. Follow I-15 north to Idaho Falls and then exit onto Highway 20. Follow Highway 20 thru Rexburg and watch for the small brown road signs that say St. Anthony Dunes. At the highway exit take a left and head north, now the small brown signs get even harder to find and follow. You’ll come to a main road, I think it’s 3rd or 4th street, and of course our maps not detailed enough. But you’ll head west on this main road and there is a brown sign on the right side of the intersection so watch for that. Follow the "main" road until it curves to the left (a few miles). Don’t take the curve, go straight. Now watch for the brown signs with a camera on them. Take a right onto the next main cross street, about 4-5 miles and you’ll see the dunes up ahead on your right.

We found Rock Creek on a recent visit (June '06) and although we weren't able to ride it looks like a pretty good place. We have talked to a couple others that have been there, and they said it was pretty good. Rock Creek has a flat track, motocross track, and supercross track. More info will be added soon to include directions and a phone number.
